Computer safety tips to reduce your risk

Friends of the Center - CDA Women's Center

Friends of the Center

Dear Friends,

While most of the nation is feeling the cutbacks of a slump in the real estate market, North Idaho is continuing to prosper and grow. Along with that success comes a downside, an increase in the number of cases of abuse and neglect in our local population. In following close-to-home tragedies, we are reminded that acts of violence against hundreds of women and children occur in this region far more often than the media can possibly report. The need
to provide programs and services to those affected by violence is greater than ever.

In the midst of heightened demand for its services, the Center experienced dramatic declines in state and federal funding during the last two years. Our work must continue; increased private financial support is critical.

Thanks to the generosity of people like you, the "Friends of the Women's Center" campaigns have been a mainstay for desperately needed funding for counseling programs and vital administrative operations. Looking ahead, this year's 7th annual campaign goal of $45,000 will be directed to a single major area of need, the Court Advocacy Program.

Last year alone the court program helped 560 men and women obtain protection orders to increase their safety. Another 798 received court advocacy services. The program assists victims to understand their rights and navigate through a complex legal system. Additional activities include; walk-in client aid, phone calls, assistance in filing protection orders and victim compensation applications, helping generate safety plans, and screening for shelter admission.

The program provides escort service to court, meetings with attorney's and law enforcement as well as hospital advocacy. Referrals for financial aid, in house counseling, emergency food, gas and clothing vouchers are also critical components We proudly renew our support for the Women's Center, Inc. and we invite you to join our annual fund drive. If we all give a little, our collective gifts will help a lot. Your tax deductible donation will make a difference in the lives of hundreds of victims - many of whom are your friends and neighbors. Please, consider being a Friend of the Women's Center! We encourage
you to share this plea for funds to satisfy a desperate need with your family and associates.

Thank you, sincerely.
